6 Steps to Cure the Back to School Blues...

04/09/2017

The long Summer holidays have finally come to an end, which can only mean one thing... it’s that time again! Whether your child is excited to go back to school, or a little anxious about it, we’ve created 6 steps to help combat the back to school blues and make the most of school life this September...

1. Make their favourite healthy breakfast

Start the day the best way you can - making them their favourite (preferably nutritional!) breakfast can give them the boost they need to start the day feeling positive.

2. Book them onto a before/after school club - try something new!

Keeping active before and after school or at lunch time can boost concentration, improve skills and increases morale. Try something new, whether it's a new sport, drama or dance.

3. Prepare!

Make sure everything is organised and ready to go for the big day - lay out their uniform ready for the morning, have their school bag packed and ready to go. Minimising the last minute rush ready for their first day back!

4. Be an early riser...

Set your alarm 15 minutes before your children wake up, so you can prepare breakfast, organise their school equipment and get ready for their first day back at school!

5. Talk...

Share your experiences of your first days of school with your children - tell them any funny stories that happened, to help them to engage in conversation with you. This can help to ease any anxiety they may have about it.

6. Be a healthy role model...

Take up some new hobbies or activities yourself, to encourage your child to be open minded and try new things at school. Maybe check out a local Fit-Trition session for parents and teachers at your child's school?
